Design Trend Alert – Black & White in Boys' Room Decor

We love the black and white trend that we see in the rooms of small children. It's so simple and elegant, with a bold contrast that really works in a child's nursery or playroom.

First we have a black and white nursery for baby Finn. Mama Allyssa describes the decoration as childish but fun and vibrant. Ferm Living wallpaper is a standout style, as are wolf bookends, the replica of Eames rocker and the elk head wall fixture by Z Gallerie.
Next, check out this room for big boys Hugh and Charles. Her mother, Belinda, is an interior designer who had seen trends in black and white and wanted to try out the color scheme in her own home. The result is an elegant bedroom that does not meet the traditional standards of decorating children's rooms. It's fun and clean, and we love custom blankets.

Thanks to both moms, Allyssa and Belinda, for sharing their designs!

Project Nursery is about showing real parents how to take charge of their own design and decoration projects. In the spring of 2008, mothers, business partners and design enthusiasts Melisa Fluhr and Pamela Ginocchio started ProjectNursery.com. Since then, the site has become a leading resource dedicated to the baby's first room and beyond.
